Three weeks. Three different teams at No. 1. CHAOS erupts for the highest score of Week 3, Bearcats and Brady Sits Down to #1 keep rolling in Black Dragon, Rum Runners stays perfect in Red, and the WRL enters its second divisional week with only four unbeaten teams remaining.
Two weeks ago, THE Ohio River Monsters opened the season by reclaiming the same No. 1 Power Ranking they had owned when 2025 ended. One week later, Bearcats knocked them off the throne and took it for themselves.
We probably should have taken the title of Chapter Two more literally.
No throne is safe.
Three weeks into the road to the first Tri-Wizard Cup, the WRL has its third No. 1 team. CHAOS delivered the biggest performance anywhere in the league in Week 3, remained undefeated and climbed past Bearcats to take over the top spot with a .986 Power Ranking. Bearcats did nothing wrong — in fact, they won again — but in a league where record, total points and All-Play all matter, sometimes winning is not enough to keep somebody else from passing you.
Elsewhere, a 96.50-point demolition established the largest blowout of the season, Music City Miracles finally turned strong scoring into a victory, a Gold Dragon game was decided by fewer than two points, and Rum Runners continued quietly building one of the best starts anywhere in the WRL.
Thirty-six teams began this season undefeated. Seven remained after Week 2.
Now there are four.
Black Dragon: Two Perfect Records and One Massive Beatdown
Black Dragon entered the season carrying more championship history than any other region, and three weeks later it remains incapable of giving us a quiet Sunday.
The featured matchup between No. 6 Brady Sits Down to #1 and No. 9 Here For The Beer belonged to Brady, which followed its league-high Week 2 performance with another huge afternoon. Brady scored 181.98 and defeated Here For The Beer 181.98-144.88, improving to 3-0 and remaining one of only four undefeated teams in the entire WRL. The first three weeks have been wildly different — an ugly 126.52-point win in Week 1 followed by performances of 190.50 and 181.98 — but the standings only care about the common denominator. Brady has played three games and won all three.
So has Bearcats. Last week's new No. 1 handled defending WRL champion Turd Ferguson 158.12-103.40, keeping its perfect record intact even though CHAOS would ultimately jump past them in the Power Rankings. Bearcats has now opened the year with scores of 199.56, 164.72 and 158.12. The weekly total has declined each time, but the victories have not stopped. At 3-0 and ranked second overall, the former champion remains very much in possession of a seat near the throne even if somebody else is sitting in it this Wednesday.
The loudest result in Black Dragon, however, came from a team that entered the week simply looking for its first win. Diablo Valley Detectives absolutely dismantled Teds Lasso 195.58-99.08, creating a 96.50-point margin of victory and establishing the largest blowout of the 2026 season. The previous record belonged to Bearcats' 89.06-point Week 1 win over these same Teds Lasso. Three weeks into the season, Lasso has now found itself on the wrong end of the two biggest beatings the WRL has produced.
For the Detectives, the timing could not have been much better. After falling to 0-2 by only 0.62 points against Turd Ferguson last week, they responded by nearly doubling their opponent and forcing their way into the Power Rankings conversation.
Music City Miracles finally received a little cooperation from the fantasy football universe as well. After scoring 174.72 and 161.82 in its first two games and somehow losing both, Music City defeated the Aviators 151.54-146.18 to collect its first victory. The Miracles are now 1-2, but their No. 12 Power Ranking reflects what the standings alone cannot: this has never looked like one of the weakest teams in the league.
The Lunatics produced one of the week's better bounce-backs. After setting the season-low with only 80.00 points in Week 2, the 2023 champion nearly doubled that output and beat Maniax 151.24-102.78. Groot also continued its dramatic turnaround from a rough opening week, scoring 172.70 in a 172.70-160.86 victory over Lucky Ass Ferg.
Black Dragon therefore leaves Week 3 with two of the last four undefeated teams, a new season record for biggest blowout, and enough week-to-week volatility to make predicting anything beyond next Sunday feel irresponsible.
In other words, perfectly on brand.
Gold Dragon: Welcome to CHAOS
The name works almost too well.
CHAOS entered Week 3 undefeated and ranked No. 2 in the WRL. By the time the weekend was finished, it had removed any ambiguity about whether the fast start was real.
CHAOS hammered Gridiron Grinders 210.94-136.62, producing the highest score in the entire WRL for Week 3 and becoming only the third team this season to crack 200 points. The victory moved CHAOS to 3-0, and when the cumulative record, scoring and All-Play numbers were recalculated, its Power Ranking climbed to an almost perfect .986.
Three weeks into the season, CHAOS owns the throne.
Gold Dragon also delivered one of the ranked games we circled last Wednesday, and Fast Johnnie Syndicate made the most of it. Syndicate defeated Totally Turtley 188.68-138.52, climbing from No. 10 all the way into a tie for fourth in the Power Rankings at .866. After losing its opener to Unicorn Legends, Fast Johnnie has responded with consecutive victories and has suddenly become one of Gold Dragon's biggest early-season stories.
The closest game of Week 3 also came from Gold. The Lone Rangers edged Mantis Mayhem 134.46-132.54, a margin of just 1.92 points. It did not challenge Turd Ferguson's 0.62-point escape from Week 2 for the season record, but it was more than enough to remind both GMs how cruel a single lineup decision can look by Tuesday morning.
The NY Jackets continued one of the quieter turnarounds of the young season by defeating Unicorn Legends 154.24-140.40. Remember where the Jackets started: 109.84 points in Week 1, the lowest score anywhere in the WRL that opening weekend. They responded with 168.12 in Week 2 and another 154.24 this week. At 2-1, that recovery earns them the final spot in this week's Top 15 after applying the WRL tiebreak procedure.
For Unicorn Legends, the loss ends a 2-0 start and drops them to 2-1, though they remain No. 11 in the Power Rankings.
Average Joes improved to 2-1 with a 155.68-139.92 victory over Rochester Rabbits, while Southern Sirens earned its first win of the season by beating Crayon Crusaders 131.12-109.54.
Three weeks ago, Gold Dragon's early story belonged to Unicorn Legends. One week ago, CHAOS was closing fast.
Now there is no debate about which team leads the region's conversation.
Red Dragon: Rum Runners Refuses to Blink
While the top of the overall Power Rankings has changed every week, one team in Red Dragon has quietly refused to participate in the instability.
Rum Runners is still undefeated.
The No. 3 Runners entered Week 3 against No. 13 E-Thugs in one of the ranked matchups highlighted in last week's preview. E-Thugs had just knocked off THE Ohio River Monsters and had every reason to believe another upset could change the shape of Red Dragon.
Rum Runners never gave them the opportunity.
The Hall of Fame-led Runners won 177.64-144.04, improving to 3-0 and holding steady at No. 3 in the Power Rankings with a .917 rating. While Ohio River held the opening-week spotlight and the rankings around them have churned constantly, Rum Runners has simply kept winning. Through three weeks, they are the only undefeated team remaining in Red Dragon.
The Monsters themselves got back on track after last week's dramatic fall from No. 1 to No. 12. THE Ohio River Monsters defeated Coolidge Scorpions 145.22-131.96, improving to 2-1 and climbing back to No. 9 in the Power Rankings. The explosive 234.56-point opening week remains part of their cumulative résumé, and one win was enough to begin repairing the damage from Week 2.
Boss Hoggs continued its own strong rebound after an opening loss, beating Nauti Dawgs 171.76-135.50 to move to 2-1 and No. 7 overall. That makes the upcoming divisional meeting with Virginia Blackbeards considerably more interesting, but more on that shortly.
The Monarchs also improved to 2-1 with a 153.16-132.90 victory over Boats N Hoes, keeping them firmly inside the upper tier of the rankings at No. 6. Virginia Blackbeards joined the 2-1 group by defeating Mad Scientist 153.12-139.42.
For Mad Scientist, the opening chapter has become increasingly uncomfortable. The season began with a high-profile loss to THE Ohio River Monsters, continued with a defeat against Rum Runners and now includes a third loss to Virginia Blackbeards. Three weeks into a 13-week regular season, Mad Scientist sits at 0-3 and needs the story to change quickly.
Finally, Garbage Points handed Villains its first loss with a 135.68-116.28 victory. Villains had entered Week 3 as one of Red Dragon's two remaining undefeated teams, meaning that result leaves Rum Runners standing alone at 3-0 in the region.
Red Dragon began this season with Ohio River occupying the throne.
Three weeks later, the only perfect team in the region is Rum Runners.
Power Rankings: CHAOS Reigns
For three consecutive Wednesdays, three different teams have occupied the No. 1 position.
THE Ohio River Monsters held it after Week 1. Bearcats took it after Week 2. Now CHAOS owns it after Week 3.
The cumulative nature of the WRL Power Rankings is beginning to matter more with every passing game. One spectacular week still moves the needle, but consistency across record, total points and All-Play becomes increasingly difficult to fake as the sample grows.
After Week 3, the Top 15 is:
1. CHAOS — .986
2. Bearcats — .968
3. Rum Runners — .917
T4. Brady Sits Down to #1 — .866
T4. Fast Johnnie Syndicate — .866
6. Monarchs — .843
7. Boss Hoggs — .787
8. Groot — .718
9. THE Ohio River Monsters — .699
10. Aviators — .653
11. Unicorn Legends — .644
12. Music City Miracles — .639
13. Virginia Blackbeards — .597
14. Here For The Beer — .569
15. NY Jackets — .551
That final position required the tiebreak procedure. NY Jackets, Diablo Valley Detectives and E-Thugs all finished with a .551 Power Ranking, but the Jackets' 2-1 record gives them the advantage in the first tiebreak category and therefore the final position in this week's Top 15.
At the opposite end of the list, the battle for first has become remarkably tight. CHAOS sits at .986, Bearcats at .968 and Rum Runners at .917. Brady Sits Down to #1 and Fast Johnnie Syndicate share the same .866 rating immediately behind them.
We are only three games into this thing, and the hierarchy is already starting to look considerably less temporary.
Four Still Standing
There were seven undefeated teams a week ago.
There are four now.
Bearcats and Brady Sits Down to #1 represent Black Dragon. CHAOS carries Gold Dragon's perfect record. Rum Runners stands alone for Red Dragon.
The group is also remarkably well represented at the top of the Power Rankings. CHAOS is No. 1. Bearcats is No. 2. Rum Runners is No. 3. Brady is tied at .866 near the top five.
Three weeks ago, every team could still imagine an undefeated season.
Thirty-two of them no longer have to worry about it.
Week 4 Preview: Back Into the Divisions
Week 4 returns the WRL to divisional competition for the second time this season, which means the results begin carrying an extra layer of importance. These are opponents teams will see twice, and victories now can become head-to-head leverage later when divisional races tighten.
Surprisingly, only two Week 4 games feature two teams currently inside the Top 15.
The biggest is in Black Dragon, where No. 2 Bearcats faces No. 14 Here For The Beer. Bearcats enters as one of the final four undefeated teams and has spent the opening three weeks establishing itself as one of the most consistent scorers in the league. Here For The Beer enters at 1-2, but has already shown enough to remain inside the Top 15. A Bearcats victory creates a 4-0 start. A Beer upset removes one more name from the undefeated list and immediately changes the tone of that division.
Red Dragon supplies the other ranked battle with No. 7 Boss Hoggs against No. 13 Virginia Blackbeards. Both teams are 2-1, both have climbed into the Top 15, and both now have an opportunity to create early separation inside their division. This is exactly the sort of matchup that may look considerably more important when we revisit it in November.
The other three undefeated teams do not face ranked opponents, but their games deserve attention for obvious reasons. Brady Sits Down to #1 faces Maniax, while CHAOS meets The Lone Rangers and Rum Runners takes on Boats N Hoes. Every one of those games carries the same simple question: can the perfect record survive another Sunday?
The rest of the Week 4 divisional slate has its own stakes. Music City Miracles faces Lunatics after finally earning its first win, Lucky Ass Ferg meets Turd Ferguson, Aviators takes on Teds Lasso, and Diablo Valley Detectives follows the biggest blowout of the season with a matchup against Groot. Gold Dragon also sends Mantis Mayhem against Southern Sirens, Average Joes against Totally Turtley, Fast Johnnie Syndicate against Gridiron Grinders, Crayon Crusaders against Unicorn Legends, and Rochester Rabbits against the new No. 1 team, CHAOS's divisional counterpart on the schedule? No — CHAOS faces The Lone Rangers, while the Rabbits have their own divisional test elsewhere on the slate.
In Red Dragon, Coolidge Scorpions faces Nauti Dawgs, E-Thugs meets Villains, Virginia Blackbeards draws Boss Hoggs, Mad Scientist faces Monarchs, Garbage Points takes on THE Ohio River Monsters, and Rum Runners puts 3-0 on the line against Boats N Hoes.
Three weeks have now given us three different No. 1 teams, four remaining undefeated clubs and enough movement in the Power Rankings to make predicting next Wednesday feel dangerous.
Maybe that is the lesson of the season so far.
THE Ohio River Monsters started on the throne. Bearcats took it away. CHAOS owns it now.
Chapter Three belongs to CHAOS.
Whether Chapter Four does is another question entirely.
